Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Saturday, October 15.

Gallagher praises Potter impact

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has praised Graham Potter, saying that all the players were 'excited' when he was appointed as Blues head coach. Gallagher is one of the players to benefit from Potter's arrival, featuring in all five games the 47-year-old has taken charge of so far.

The 22-year-old was used sparingly by Thomas Tuchel at the start of the season and was often used in a deeper midfield role when he did feature. "Everyone was excited for the gaffer to come in," Gallagher told Sky Sports News.

"The jobs he had before Chelsea, you could see he was a brilliant manager. All the players are very excited, we've got off to a good start and hopefully we can continue this."

Potter's Reece James replacements

Chelsea have received a massive blow as football.london understands Reece James' injury sustained in the second half against AC Milan is worse than first thought.

James, who started the match at San Siro, was substituted off in the second half after going down holding his knee following an awkward landing. The 22-year-old walked off the pitch and was seen in Milan a day later than his teammates which raised hopes that the injury might not be as bad as first feared.

With the winter World Cup just five weeks away, the right-back faces a race to be fit and Graham Potter must deal with a Chelsea squad missing one of their best performers over an intense period of time.

Kante injury blow

Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante has suffered another injury setback. The Frenchman is reportedly set to miss three months of action, which will make him unavailable for Didier Deschamps' World Cup squad.

Kante picked up a hamstring injury in training and the 31-year-old is set to see a specialist. He recently returned to first-team training after having a spell on the side lines, but he has suffered yet another setback.

The midfielder hasn't played for the Blues since their eventful 2-2 draw with Tottenham at Stamford Bridge in August. His contract in west London expires next summer, with many wondering if his injury issues may see the club refuse to offer a new deal.
