OFFICIAL: ETH confirms Man Utd Dalot, Fred, Rashford & Shaw contracts extension
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that the club have triggered one-year extension clauses in the contracts of four senior players.
Diogo Dalot, Fred, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw all had deals that were set to expire in June 2023, but in each case there was an option of an extra 12 months.
The decision has been made to exercise those respective additions, meaning that the quartet are now all under contract until at least the summer of 2024.
In an exclusive interview to preview our first Premier League fixture since the World Cup – at home to Nottingham Forest next Tuesday – Erik was asked about media stories regarding the future of the four players.
“Yes, I can confirm it,” he told Zarah Connolly, in an interview you can watch in full on ManUtd.com, MUTV and the United App on matchday morning.
“We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have] a massive contribution in that direction.”
Ten Hag went on to explain that all four players are very much in his plans for United, following their exploits in the early months of his time in charge at Old Trafford.
The quartet had key roles in the first half of our campaign before recently going away with their nations to play at the World Cup in Qatar.
“We want to develop, we want to support those players and we want them to keep in our process,” the manager added.
“So, that’s why we came to those decisions, I’m sure they are the right decisions.
“We want to construct a team for the future, so for longer years, and those players have to be part of it.”
