Benfica striker’s value triples to €120m amid Manchester United links
Manchester United are prioritising a search for an elite-level centre-forward and Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos is one of the strikers being linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
The Reds would be required to pay triple the amount needed to prize Goncalo Ramos away from Benfica last summer.
The Portuguese striker has been a standout performer for the Eagles, providing the vast majority of their goals this season after Darwin Nunez’s transfer to Liverpool.
Ramos has 34 goal involvements in total this term, 24 of those goals, across all competitions.
According to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias (page 38 via PressReader), Benfica won’t sell Ramos unless his transfer release clause (€120m) is met.
The 21-year-old has also been linked with a move to Newcastle, but there’s no way they would win a race for his signature if United were seriously interested.
It’s said that Ramos had an asking price of just €40m at the start of the season, but he has become a star player and they are now demanding a lot more as some of the biggest clubs in Europe circulate.
In the end it will come down to whether Erik ten Hag fancies Ramos more than, say, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen or Tottenham’s Harry Kane. United will assess all situations before deciding which player they should prioritise.
Atalanta starlet Rasmus Hojlund is another striker linked with a switch to United.
